setting to end of the world

sitting on the fine yellow sand of the beach
I see on the horizon the galleons of the career of the Indies,
somewhere between the blue sea scratched silver by the sun,
and the peach-colored sky punctuated by coal clouds ...

I would like one day to embark on these jaunty ships.
who run the world, crossing two oceans across the Cape,
appropriately called Good Hope, carrying dreams
and bringing riches, in an immensity of dangers ...

how many lives have been lost by this fascination for the unknown,
by an indomitable will to fulfill such a small country full of courage,
skimming worlds, facing giants and forces of nature,
until the proud pattern of the quinas can be planted in new lands ...

one day, I will rise and follow the setting sun by this sea full of mysteries,
fulfilling my fate to one day accept the darkness of fortunes,
setting up camp somewhere near the end of the world
overlooking the stormy Horn in lands of ice and fire ...
